Why are we highlighting a dessert shop in a bar guide, you might be asking yourself? When said dessert shop also features a collection of boozy delights, it gets our attention! This sweet (literally) café in Ballard (a hat trick this month) not only serves up molten chocolate cakes, grilled chocolate sandwiches, and s’mores, but they have a whole menu of over-21 offerings. The adult kid in you can sidle up to the tiny, two-stool bar and order a boozy milkshake such as the Drunken Sailor with peanut butter, caramel and whiskey. Or opt for a float like the St. Germain, with elderflower liquor and vanilla ice cream. Additionally, there’s a menu of regular cocktails, mostly served on the rocks, like the Smoked Old Fashioned with chocolate bitters and a Laphroaig rinse; or the Root Beer with root liquor, blackstrap rum and ginger beer. The shop does have comfortable tables and chairs, so you’re not reliant on space at the chocolate chip sized bar, and serves some savory snacks, like grilled cheese too. Whatever you do though, and whatever the weather, do not miss out on the Hot Spiked Sipping Caramel. It will make you happy to not be a kid again with its Woodford Bourbon and lush, creamy caramel.
