The Sitting Room
May 11, 2018
This laid-back, comfy bistro has been a neighbourhood favourite for over 15 years. It’s the mix of elements that makes The Sitting Room work. The bar offers live jazz, quality cocktails, a good wine list, and a tempting array of seasonal small plates. It’s warm in atmosphere and quiet in ambiance, the front doors opening up onto the patio on sunny evenings creating the ideal spot for an aperitif or a martini before dinner. The room is attractive with antique sofas, vintage lamps and the occasional splash of greenery. Cocktails include the fresh, peppy Pear Sidecar, the Sage Greyhound – which blends Absolute Ruby Red, grapefruit, and fresh sage – an aromatic Lavender French 75 and a cool, refreshing Cucumber Martini. The wine list is well worth exploring and they serve a superior selection cheese and charcuterie alongside some larger grilled dishes, salads and soups. There are twice nightly happy hours which make this place an even better bet. All this and live music too.
