Triumph Bar, the brainchild of sommelier brothers Jim and Brandon Marsh, along with chef Jonathan Doar, is a lively, sunny space, its walls covered with bright floral wallpaper and tin tiles. There’s a glittering array of bottles on one side of the room and a few intimate tables for hunkering down with a glass of something. Wine is a big deal here, the list mainly Italian, and featuring over 300 varieties as well as a selection of domestic offerings, a good array available by the glass. There’s also an exciting cocktail menu which also continues the Italian theme, drinks including the Oh Snap!, gin blended with sugar snap pea, egg white, honey, lemon, and orange blossom, the Die By The Lemon, a sweet-smoky mix of mezcal, Meyer lemon, egg white, and bitters, and The Pink Peppercorn, a smooth pairing of rye, amaro, rhubarb, pepper, lemon, and soda. Whatever you do don’t neglect the food, the menu is full of tasty things – superior cheese plates, quality sandwiches and meaty things, a ridiculously rich cheese and pork belly mac with truffle, and an epic Porterhouse for two. The large windows allow for a glorious view of the Space Needle and as the lights get lower and the place starts to glow the atmosphere becomes warmer and more convivial, the ideal place to linger. There are happy hours twice daily, making this place even better value.
