The Good Bar has not been named in vain. The attractive new bar in the historic Japanese Commercial Bank space next to Pizzeria Gabbiano has a handsome interior thanks to designer Sean Sifagaloa. The food and drink are on the money too. The drink list contains such delights as the Breakfast Flip, a blend of bourbon, corn flake cream, maple syrup, egg, and angostura. The seasonal Toddy, mixing brown butter bourbon, cinnamon, maple and tea also sounds the business and they do a nice line in classics too, including a top notch Amaro Negroni with just the right bitter edge. There’s an execellent array of craft brews and ciders (the latter from the Seattle Cider Co), many of them local and a compact but thoughtfully put together wine list. The food menu is similarly enticing, featuring a range of braised meats and fresh Northwest seafood, alongside a curated list of charcuterie and cheeses from which you can piece together a platter. The house Sloppy Joe and the baked oysters are also worth your time.
