Located in the heart of trendy Cheongdam-dong, Nomad has quickly asserted itself as a shining star on the sparkling Seoul bar scene. Specializing in plush classic cocktails of the handcrafted variety served alongside a spellbinding list of world whiskies, Nomad takes inspiration from the era of the speakeasy and puts a modern twist on it. Immediately upon entering Nomad, you notice right away that this is a place that takes presentation seriously. The interior design features both dark and light woods subtly contrasted with charcoal-colored booths, which all reside under the glow of soft lights and a mesmerizing ‘jenga’-style wooden block fixture. Once on to the drink list, the same painstaking attention to detail is evident. Classics like the Side Car, Aviation, and Moscow Mule are all composed using the same recipe they were during the age of Prohibition, and are all presented in beautiful vintage glassware to match the era. The star of the show at Nomad is no doubt the single malt Scotch Whisky list, and it dazzles with a bevy of bottles from each whisky-producing region in Scotland, with special emphasis on Speyside or Islay. While you certainly will see names that you are familiar with like Glenlivet and Glenfiddich at Nomad, the whisky menu is also awash in slightly lesser known labels like Glenrothes and Benromach and an entire section called Connoisseurs Choice that caters to the boutique whisky lover. Fans of American and Japanese whiskey will feel at home at Nomad as well as they are well represented on the list and, like the Scotch, can be mixed into any cocktail.
