When Japanese design deities Super Potato put their collective mind to bar design, the results are bound to be stunning – and, let’s face it, the 24th floor of the Park Hyatt Seoul, surrounded by towering Gangnam cityscapes, is a great place to start. The feel in this bar and restaurant is timeless yet contemporary, with views over a startling infinity-edge indoor pool through floor-to-ceiling windows: by day, it’s flooded with natural light, by night, it’s a skyhigh vista onto one of Asia’s great megacities. An all-day offer in the bar and restaurant goes right through from coffee and chocolate to lunch, afternoon tea and dinner – yet, to enjoy The Lounge at its finest, head on down for an evening of sterling city views paired with champers, fine wine or some of their outstanding cocktails. Fridays and Saturdays see chilled lounge sounds coupled with excellent drinks: the perfect spot for a high-end date, a catch-up with a good mate you haven’t seen for a while, or to impress visitors from overseas with the magic of your hometown. Cocktails here are East-Meets-West par excellence: a persimmon mimosa borrows both from the Mimosa and the Bellini, the signature Mulberry Mojito has a light, fresh flavour that stands out, and we just lurrrve the Gangnam Negroni, with Hwayo boutique soju standing in for gin and Aperol doing duty for Campari. Should you overindulge in freeflow champers, or, of course, those Mojitos, there’s an interesting menu of Korean meets Western fare. All together now: oppa Gangnam style.
