Since its opening, rooftop XIU has become synonymous with luxurious lounging in Beijing, and still resides in rarefied air in the social stratosphere of the Chinese capital. In fact, according to many, no time spent in Beijing is complete without at least one evening spent admiring the view from XIU. Located at the Park Hyatt hotel, XIU takes its design inspiration from both traditional Chinese gardens and plush lounges the world over, featuring authentic Chinese pavilions, fountains, and sleek outdoor furniture. As gorgeous as the venue is, however, it’s the electric view of the city below from the terrace that is bound to take your breath away. Inside XIU, you will find a small handful of eclectic bars, from those specializing in martinis and premium vodka to one pouring the world’s best wines. All manner of cocktails are shaken by the expert bar staff in addition to XIU house concoctions. Two of the most popular of these are the Around The World – dark rum, gin, white rum, whisky, orange liqueur, cognac, pineapple juice, and orange juice – and the famous house martini: the XIU Tini – premium vodka, strawberry liquor, fresh-sliced strawberry, and spicy hot sauce. If you get hungry, some of the best gourmet Peking duck in town is served at XIU, and we can’t think of a better way to get all the best of Beijing under – or on – one roof.
