The Milestone

The former Ball Inn has been reincarnated as one of the best restaurants in Sheffield. Located in the Kelham Island conversation area, The Milestone is a textbook example of how to do these things well. The interior is attractive, with exposed brickwork and rustic beams paired nicely with cool, contemporary lines: an appealing blend of old and new. There’s a definite buzz about the place, the sound of people having a good time and reveling in the pleasures of good food and drink, things The Milestone supplies in abundance. Even with the departure of one half of the creative team behind its initial success, the venue still serves exemplary modern British dishes using local, well-sourced ingredients (partridge, pork belly, cheek of beef). There’s a more formal dining area upstairs with a relaxed pubby room downstairs. Decent cocktails, an exciting range of beers and ales supply the liquid interest.
