This stylish new spot, the brainchild of Beppe DeVito, channels something of the spirit of a Venetian bacaro in the middle of Singapore. &sons serves a range of superb Italian small plates and chichetti – artisanal pastas, home-baked bread, charcoal grilled meats and the like it’s an attractive place, a spacious, relaxed room with tiled floors and deep blue walls, atmospheric and soothing. Dark wood abounds and there’s a wonderfully well-stocked bar. There’s an extensive wine menu too, with a particular focus on Italian natural and biodynamic wines and around 16 options available by the glass. Their Italian cheese board is an excellent and pairs brilliantly with one of their Italian aperitifs they serve a supremely refreshing Aperol Spritz and a superlative Bellini alongside a good range of grappas and quality malt whiskies. The food plays as big a role as the wine here and the signature sea urchin carbonara is a must order, the tagliolini with crab and nduja not far behind. The salami is house-cured and there are some inventive veggie-centric dishes on the menu too. If you fancy something sweet to wrap up your meal their gelato is a good bet.
