Ranked the fourth best bar in the world, with its flagship venue established in Employees Only, Downtown NYC, its successor landed in Singapore with a bang in the summer of 2016.

Like it’s American predecessor, the first trick to enjoying the full EO experience, is actually finding it. Luckily, we’ve got the inside scoop on where to find this hidden gem, what to order and who to take with you. Follow our breadcrumbs for an out of this world cocktail adventure.

If you’re looking for the infamous Employees Only branding to gain entry to this world-class speakeasy, you may be wandering around for a while. Hundreds of tourists and locals sadly stumble past it each day, none the wiser of the wonders that lie beyond the unassuming, yet wildly garish, pink ‘psychic’ neon sign, often with ‘fortune teller and customer’ in place guarding sentry. Found them? Then you’ve found the sweet spot.

When you step by the enchanted curtain and enter the wonder of Employees Only Bar and Restaurant, you’ll immediately be struck by how wonderfully light and bright the space is. There’s a real art deco feel, and an almost old-world magic. Think an abundance of bottles, a well-lit bar backdrop, with brightly coloured strip lights and warm antique ceiling lighting. The look and feel is welcoming and laid back, with a low buzz of excitement that picks up pace as the night goes on.

The tropical city-state of Singapore has a thriving bar scene, yet Employees Only is a real jewel in the crown of the region. From a flawless cocktail menu, our top pick is the pink peppercorn-laden ready, fire, aim from the fancy cocktail range. Straight up Vida mezcal is served with home-made sweet pineapple syrup, Bittermans Hellfire bitters and freshly squeezed lime juice. It’s a sweet and sour delight that feels as zingy as the atmosphere.

Like the very best golden age gin joints or Prohibition style cocktail dens, access to this hush-hush bar and restaurant is extremely well hidden. But we can assure you, it’s well worth finding.
