Staring life at Boat Quay, the new premises of Spiffy Dapper is more spacious than its predecessor, about twice the size of its old home, and it also now stocks even more craft beers and spirits. There’s also a barrel-aged cocktail programme and an open kitchen, overseen by recent Culinary Institute of America graduate Christine Seah. During the day it operates as Dapper Coffee, but come evening and the place kicks up a gear. Tasty lunch plates include Baked Chicken & Quinoa, Mexican Black Bean Crepe and Green Eggs & Ham Jam (mmm, ham jam). It doesn’t quite have the speakeasy vibe of its old abode, but the atmosphere is lively and vibrant, the drinks quality and the food good – basically it ticks all our boxes. Drinks are as inventive as ever – there are some seriously clever cocktails on the menu (their espresso concoction was always a favourite) and it’s the kind of place you can happily lose a whole night to, drinking and hanging out with friends.
