Night Out
The Tippling Club
Singapore-Tanjong Pagar
May 11, 2018
Spanning three shophouse units at 38 Tanjong Pagar Road, the Tippling Club divides its attention into three inextricably fused compartments: a bar, a dining room and an upstairs private dining area. Step into the bar and you’re surrounded by citrus colours and a sleek but quirky atmosphere. Lime-green banquette seating and bar stools add zing to the décor, as do the hanging bottles of every colour dangling over the bar counter. This Singapore bar is a place for hipsters, visitors and knowledgeable locals who want to sample one of the city’s most celebrated cocktail-restaurant combinations.
The Tippling Club’s inventive approach starts with the cocktail menu. It is accompanied by a little bag of gummy bears, each sweet infused with the taste of its matching cocktail. If you like the sound of the happiness cocktail, try the cheerful yellowy gum and savour the flavours of light citrus and honey. Nice? Then try the real deal with tequila and passion fruit. Or try the holiday sweetie and its corresponding tipple made up of rum with pineapple and coconut, flavoured with kaffir lime leaves, all served up in a Caribbean-beach-inspired coconut shell.
There’s much more to this Singapore cocktail bar than personality-based cocktails. There’s a bar snack menu of sandwiches and sweet treats, plus delicious delicate bites like smoked & charred peppers with soy and wasabi or nori roll with algae emulsion. But it’s dinner that really steals the show. The Tippling Club’s tasting menu is a foodie’s must-try. Langoustine paired with an umami bomb cocktail or Iberico pork paired with a Vincent Girardin 2015 Savigny-Lès-Beaune burgundy are just two of the mouth-watering and satisfying combinations.
Whether it’s for a night out, a quick bite to eat or the full gourmand tasting menu, the Tippling Club is a must-visit for anyone who loves to experiment.
