Catalina Rose Bay
May 11, 2018
Home to award-winning modern Australian cooking, fantastic wine and cocktails, in addition to sweeping waterside views, Catalina Rose Bay has become a ‘destination dining’ darling in Sydney.
Located near the site of Sydney’s first international airport, where Catalina seaplanes used to gracefully glide to the water, the venue takes its name from these vintage vessels and its cue from the romance of the times. This era has been re-captured wonderfully at Catalina, as the gorgeous venue is at one with the water, sitting at the end of a dock, home to a graceful curvaceous glass window that seems to bring the harbour inside. The fare is spectacular (and always evolving), with recent stars including locally-sourced seafood specialties like octopus terrine, marron tail, and barramundi. The wine list is accolade-worthy, as it has been painstakingly selected to complement the fine dining, featuring labels from Australia and beyond.
We are especially fond of the cocktails here though, as they pair up with their sunny dockside terrace perfectly. A few of our favorites being the pastel Watermelon and Rose Martini – premium vodka shaken with muddled watermelon, rose buds and simple syrup – the cooling Summer Dream – premium vodka, elderflower liqueur, lemon juice, strawberry purée,and fresh sliced strawberries – and the Mayflower Estate Sour – premium gin shaken with blueberries, cabernet sauvignon, lemon juice, lavender sugar and bitters, strained over ice. An impressive range of global spirits, aperitifs, after dinner liqueurs and digestifs are also stocked, in addition to quality beers. Credit Photo: https://www.facebook.com/catalinarosebay/photos
