Gasoline Pony isn’t as scene-driven or on-trend as some of the bars in this neck of the woods which makes it all the more agreeable. It’s a welcoming, airy space with an awesome beer garden in which you can kick back with a drink. The interior is handsomely kitted out, light and bright with colourful cushions and a kind of cool rustic-chic vibe we like. The drinks list is great too, blending customised cocktails (their espresso martini is all kinds of yum) with a nice line in craft beer – they have Mountain Goat, Young Henrys, and Coopers on tap. The wine list is well worth exploring and their eclectic food menu is also a cut above, the bar serving quirky bites like Korean tofu with kimchi, an epic brisket and a well sourced house Cheese Platter which comes with a moreish date and almond paste. A backing track of old folk, jazz and rock’n’roll wraps things up nicely and they often host live music nights. The vibe is relaxed and very chilled, and dogs are welcome too provided they’re well-behaved it’s that kind of the place.
