Low & Lofty’s
May 11, 2018
Creatively combining the smoky low-and-slow flavors of Texas-style barbecue with the colorful cocktails of the Caribbean, Low & Lofty’s has brought something utterly fresh to Cronulla and we couldn’t be happier about the development.
While some may think that Texas-style barbecue should only be dispensed at a dusty wooden shack deep in the heart of the Lone Star State, one trip to Low & Lofty’s will quickly change your mind. The venue is splashed with color throughout, including one wall painted with green palms and another covered in hundreds of pink flamingos, in addition to teal blue booths and a host of other sunny effects. As far as the barbecue is concerned, they hit it out of the park with classics like beef brisket and pork ribs, but also throw in unique grills like spicy Caribbean jerk chicken.
It’s the drinks that have captivated us the most though, as they are as fresh as the decor and often include creative combinations we haven’t ever seen before. A few examples are the punchy Lynchburg Fizz (bourbon, lemon, grilled nectarine jam, bitters, and egg white topped with soda), the decadent Pancake Pinacolada (cinnamon-infused rum, fresh pineapple, citrus, coconut, and maple syrup), and the sudsy Sneaky Snake (tequila, Italian aperitif, blood orange, and lime all topped with craft ale). There’s also plenty of quality beer and wine being poured here, and we can’t think of any better place to tip them back before or after a hometown Sharks rugby game.
