If you’re looking for a word to describe Peppermint Lounge, it’s probably not going to be ‘understated’. This sharp, stylish Kings Cross/Potts Point joint boasts a swinging retro feel with bold colours, funky beats and Bond paintings in the foyer, with lots of 70’s style reclined seating (which, be warned, can be tricky for the unwary, especially if you’ve already had one of their cocktails). Popular with the creative (or, let’s be honest, the wannabe creative) set who can regularly be found lounging on the comfy sofas sipping cocktails into the early hours, it has a friendly vibe and is a great place to go with friends. You might struggle to find it it’s tucked away around a corner, opposite the Potts Point Holiday Inn, if you’re lost and it’s not a massive venue, so can get busy at peak times, though rarely feels cramped or overfull. The drinks aren’t super cheap but the cocktails are well made, and the level of service is excellent even when you manage to stay right up until closing at 6am on weekends. As a result it’s always popular with the night owls you can often find people from the neighbourhood winding down here after a big night out on the weekend, calling in at the Lounge for just one more drink before they go home, though the great atmosphere and so-late-it’s-early opening hours can encourage you to stay longer than you should.
