The Corner House
May 11, 2018
One of the best eateries next to Bondi beach, the Corner House is a delicious place to stop off after a long day in the sun.
The bar, filled with wooden ferry pews, railway sleepers and an authentic rusting steel floor, sits on the corner of the once famous Bondi Tram location. The restaurant itself has a slight Italian theme, created by chef Bret Mills. The downstairs of the restaurant is a white walled dining room with brown leather benches. The food, which can range from an open fire pizza to the recommended gnocchi with beetroot, beef cheeks and horseradish is a must try.
The restaurant also caters to those who are gluten free- which may make some lives easier. There are smoking balconies in the bar, readily suited to everybody’s needs. Animal lovers may want to avoid the display of a stag’s head and antlers, but it makes a nice focal point in the room.
Upstairs the bar sits comfortably and becomes rather busy on a Friday night. Now, the cocktail to order has to be ‘coco-loco’ which is a blend of coconut, strong lime juice, chilli, agave and house made curacao. The uniqueness of this cocktail is like no other, and the chilli and lime is honestly a genius infusion. The wine menu is extensive, supplying crowd pleasing results.
The corner house has truly considered everyone in their bar vision. We would highly recommend this bar for a visit, even if it’s just for one cocktail, as we can guarantee- you’ll come back!
