Ah, we all know that a disregard for capital letters and the rules of ordinary grammar spell trendiness, but this gorgeous venue is less painfully hip than its name would suggest. This spacious cocktail lounge offers a superb waterfront view, but there’s plenty to look at inside, too, as the clientele tends towards the glossy: you may find yourself wondering from which magazine cover it is that you recognise your fellow guests. It’s best then to dress accordingly, as the door policy can be strict and smartness is expected. Once inside, though, reclining on the comfortable couches and in elegant surrounds, there’s more to drink in than just the view. They might be risking hubris by offering a beverage called The Greatest Cocktail Ever Sold (featuring vodka, POM Wonderful and Prosecco, since you ask) but the drinks here are on the money, even if they do overdo it on the pun-tastic names (Au Pear or Cinn City, anyone?) They also offer, for reasons we’re not entirely clear on, The Billy Connolly Cooler (featuring scotch, brandy and Earl Grey tea among the ingredients). There’s a food menu available so, even if many of your fellow drinkers look like they never eat, there’s snacks to munch on, including oysters, prawn wontons and chilli salt squid. The place also does high tea, where you can enjoy an exceedingly civilised selection of tea, sandwiches and cakes, accompanied by wide range of teas or, if you like a bit of a kick with your food, a tea-infused cocktail, all served by friendly and helpful staff.
