A tasty slice of Mexico and the Caribbean in Tel Aviv, the top notch cocktails and food on offer at La Otra might just beat the ones you had on holiday.

Bringing the flavors of Mexico and the Caribbean to Tel Aviv, La Otra is the third venue from a renowned local team, and perhaps their best yet.

Walking into La Otra feels like being in a different region of the world entirely, and we’re guessing that is precisely what they were going for. Cave-like walls complete with nooks cut out for flickering candles, golden ambient light, woven-back bar stools, and a wall behind the bar made entirely out of brick feel like something exotic and the drinks and food on offer follow suit. Fare like the Shark Bait (white fish ceviche with citrus, cucumbers, tomato seeds, pickled jalapeno, and lime vinaigrette) and guacamole served with giant plantain chips set the stage, and the cocktails steal the show.

The drinks are organized into four categories: Sour, Tiki, Boozy, and Wild and all live up to their names. A couple of our favorite agave-inspired tipples are the eye-catching pink slushy Frozen Flamingo (reposado tequila, green herbal liqueur, pear, hibiscus, and lime) from the Wild section and a smoky Oaxaca Old Fashioned (tequila and mezcal with bitters and agave syrup) from Boozy. Saying farewell to Mexico and hopping over to the Caribbean is as easy as ordering a creamy pineapple and rum-laden Painkiller #2 or the Kalingo, which is made with four types of rum.
