An intriguing ‘retro futuristic’ bar in the heart of Tel Aviv’s happening Rothschild Boulevard nightlife district, Sputnik brings a bit of the past and the future together in one scintillating space. By using some of the predictions and visions from the 1950s and 1960s as to what the 21st Century would be like as inspiration for the moniker and decor of the bar, Sputnik Bar has ironically become wildly futuristic in its own right. Nope, no-one in town is doing anything remotely as thematically striking as this bar located down a hidden alley (look for the pathway lights, they’ll guide you). Once inside Sputnik Bar, you’ll find a venue with wooden floors and a dimly-lit brick-backed wall that may look on par with the bars of 2016, but when your ears pick up the waves from the cutting edge sound-system and your eyes catch the dancing art projections on the walls, you will feel as though you’ve skipped ahead a few years. The owners of Sputnik previously owned one of the city’s most loved dance clubs, and have brought that same vibe with them. Hip hop and house are two of the most common sounds coming from the space-age speakers, but it isn’t all about the nightlife at Sputnik Bar, as the venue is also a gathering place for special events, typically with an artsy or eclectic edge.
