The Passage (Pasaz)
May 11, 2018
Describing Tel Aviv’s The Passage as a down-to-earth space set among cocktail bars and clubs with bigger attitudes isn’t just a comment on its atmosphere and approach to things. No, The Passage is quite literally down to earth, located inside a subterranean walkway on Allenby St to be precise.
Once down the steps and inside the quirky bar, the mood is more Berlin than Big Apple, as a mismatched set of chairs and tables and potted plants all sit under the low glow of a red light. During the day, collectors of curios and international fare sell their wares, while at night an eclectic crowd gathers here to catch up with each other and catch live performances of some of the city’s best independent bands, DJs, and stage artists.
While you won’t find cocktails that smoke or tipples made with rare international spirits at The Passage, you will find a one-of-a-kind atmosphere that many people regard as one of the best places in town to experience the ‘real Tel Aviv’. Make no mistake though, cold beer and mixed drinks are dispensed with a smile all night by a friendly and welcoming staff, and we can’t think of a better place to begin the process of getting to know this great city.
