Standing Bar S
May 11, 2018
Sorry, chaps, Standing Bar S is a bar for ladies only. More like the interior of a Mariko Mori installation than a watering-hole, the aesthetic is sleekly minimal, tempered here and there by strategically placed potted plants. As the name suggests, it is a standing-room only affair. That said, seats can be found upstairs in the equally impressive V.I.P lounge, though for a charge. The drinks menu is as large as it is well-balanced, finding as one can a number of nihorishimi, wines, spirits, as well as all the usual and some not-so-usual Western suspects. As for the clientele, the bar attracts Tokyo’s trendier set, although the only men to be seen are through the picture window into the kitchens, from where, incidentally, you can get light meals and canapes to complement your drink.
