Ciao Wine Bar
May 11, 2018
Located in the heart of Yorkville, in the spot formerly known as Noodle, Ciao describes itself as an authentic Italian wine bar, It’s a large yet handsome and contemporary space, all stone and glass with butcher’s bock tables, vaulted ceilings and a mezzanine level for a more intimate dining and drinking experience. Tables spill out onto Yorkville Avenue on summer nights. The wine list is extensive, drawn not just from Italy but from France and Canada too. There are plenty of options available by the glass and prices start at a very reasonable level, though there are a number of more wallet-bothering choices on the list too. In terms of food, we’re talking classic Italian dishes, tasty antipasti, grilled meat and fish, platters of cheese and salami, pizzas and house made pasta. Service is reputed to be more than a little bit hit and miss but the food is of a high standard. The wine list is where the fun is to be had and is worth exploring with a few Italian nibbles on the side. Grab one of those patio seats if you can and order a glass of something full bodied and red. Despite the hitches in the service the place is normally buzzing and the atmosphere is part of its appeal.
