High up above the streets and housesß- is a bar. And a rather glam bar at that, situated on the 51st floor of the Manulife Centre and offering its visitors sweeping views over the whole city. The décor is pretty snazzy too, with Bauhaus leather sofas and lots of sleek dark wood. They’ve won awards for their cocktails and can also boast the highest outdoor terraces in the city – two of them no less which are open from April through October and offer spectacular views, voted the best in the city, to the north and south of the city. On a clear day, it’s said you can see 250 kilometres. Cosy loveseats and couches make it the perfect place to snuggle up with a date no surprise then that it’s also been voted Toronto’s ß-most romantic spotß-. Inside you’ll find contemporary Italian seating amid the sleek dark wood and steel accents. The crowd, which tends to veer towards the conservative side, includes well-heeled locals and tourists, all drawn in by the views, smooth service and award-winning cocktails. Though the place is ever so slightly stiff in terms of atmosphere, the views alone make it a great place to impress a date or mark an occasion before moving on to dinner. And the award-winning food menu (yep, more awards, you can’t move for them up here) combines tapas style appetizers which are perfect for sharing, with seasonal main courses such as lobster mac and cheese, and seared beef tenderloin medallion.
