People tend either to start or finish their evenings at this cafe-brasserie, located in the buzzing Campo Santa Margherita. It’s open until 2am and really comes to life after midnight. With decor at the minimalist end of the spectrum, its sharp designer look draws in the young and trendy both pre-and post clubs for a chat or a catch-up over Negronis and ice-cold beers. It’s not the place to come for big, hearty meals, but its offering of sandwiches and other tasty light snacks all made on-site will probably be exactly what you crave after a night out in one of the coolest parts of town. The service is great, the drinks won’t break the bank and, best of all, there’s beer pong for the boozily competitive. And when the weather is warm enough, you can head into the perfectly formed garden terrace for an al fresco end to your evening. During the day, the cafe’s street seating makes it a great place to bask in the sun, sip coffee, munch cake and generally take it easy as the world goes by in the busy piazza perfect if your shades mask a hangover as well as showing off your impeccable designer taste. So, if you’re looking for a post-shopping pit-stop, a nightcap or just want to hang out at the bar and pose, cocktail in hand and looking like you just don’t care, Margaret Duchamp should be high on your list of places to go.
