The vast pink-tinted Hilton Molino Stucky, housed in a former grain mill, is one of the most dramatic-looking buildings on Giudecca island in Venice (and that’s saying something in this city). Even if you’re not fortunate enough to be staying here, the hotel’s bar is well worth a visit, what its glorious panoramic views of the southern lagoon. Hit it at the right time and this place is seriously stunning with a vista that befits its name. The Skyline Rooftop Bar has a swimming pool too – though that’s for guests only – but the terrace is open to all. Yes, drinks are steeply price, but hey, this is Venice and views come at a price here. If you compare it to the money you can spend on an espresso in St Mark’s Square or on a Harry’s Bar Bellini, it’s actually pretty reasonable. The view here is cinematic and worth paying for. If you’re celebrating, it’s worth reserving, in order to make sure you get a table that makes the most of the surroundings – some are better than others in this regard.
