This sleekly designed bar is down a small side street in Rialto that few tourists will ever find. But make the effort it’s definitely worth it. Just off the social hub that is the Campo San Luca, Vitae is busiest in the early evening when the post-work yuppie crowd pour in to shrug off the stresses of the day by ordering Camparis and cocktails. But don’t be put off by its glass wall and shiny metallic bar: behind its chic appearance, this is far from just a hangout for the suited wealthy. The personable staff behind the small counter treat regulars well and the price of drinks over an evening won’t burn a hole in your pocket. From beer to gin, vodka and wine, you’ll find your favourite tipple at a reasonable rate; although the place’s popularity with both locals and tourists means it can take a while to get served among the throng. The bar is packed out until late into the evening, staying open past the bewitching hour to pick up the buzzing post-club crowd. The clientele are young, friendly and fun and a good mix of Venetians and visitors. The music spans funk and reggae to crashing techno, which is great if you are in the mood for it but sometimes a bit too loud otherwise. During the day-time, Vitae is also a popular place for a post-hangover brunch and catch up with friends
