The lively and stylish Albertgasse 39 is a great cocktail destination. The drinks menu blends the classic and modern and the bar staff really know what they’re doing. There’s a huge selection on offer ß-from a menu so extensive as to be a little daunting, we’d be tempted by the Green Devil (Beefeater Dry Gin, creme de menthe, lime juice, lemon juice, and soda) or the Trinity (Beefeater Dry Gin, Martini Extra Dry and Martini Bianco with a lemon twist) though if you like your drinks with a kick, you might prefer the Devil’s Kiss, which is spiced up with a shot of Tabasco. There are also enough champagne cocktails on offer to keep the fussiest fizz fan happy, and on hot days you can cool down with one of their frozen margaritas and if none of that tickles your fancy, there’s an extensive selection of wines, beers (including local brews) and soft drinks on offer. The interior is simply but smartly decked out in a contemporary style, with narrow legged stools, comfy banquettes and red walls, giving it a warm glow that makes the place seem welcoming. Large windows flood the high-ceilinged space with light during the day when the venue is a popular spot to drop in for a coffee but come evening the lights are atmospherically dimmed and at the back the draped ceilings and leather seats make for an intimate space that’s ideal for a chilled night out with friends or a date. The restaurant area is pretty cool, too, serving an eclectic modern menu think steaks, burgers and salads but also some Turkish and Mediterranean inspired plates and the crowd is unpretentious but still rather chic.
