A venerable beer and wine pub that is a favorite with locals, REINWEIN is a cozy neighborhood retreat with an extensive drinks list and cool patio.

Pegged as Austria’s first ever wine and craft beer bar, REINWEIN is a cozy locals hangout and prime pick for thirsty tourists. Out front, REINWEIN has a small terrace with a handful of tables – the perfect place to cool down with a frosty drink on a hot day – while the interior takes on the appearance of a cool wine cellar, lined with painted stone walls and more bottles than you could shake a stick at. To add to the laidback neighborhood vibe, there are rows of crammed bookshelves at the back of the bar, inviting you to enjoy a little light reading with your libation of choice. Incidentally, this is also where the occasional live music artists set up shop to entertain the evening crowds.   When it comes to the drinks (and that is, after all, why we’re here) REINWEIN stocks over 40 different Austrian wines – some sold by the glass, most by the bottle – of almost every different grape variety, including a special award-winning 2012 red with notes of red berries and chocolate. Their craft beer selection is even more impressive, comprising over 66 different Austrian and international bottles and cans, with a couple of rotating brands on tap every week. And if you’re looking for something with a little more fizz, they also serve champagne, sparkling wine and spritzers, along with a small range of spirits and soft drinks. To accompany the drinks, REINWEIN offers a range of cold snacks and sharing platters of meat, cheese, bruschetta and flammkuchen.Photo credit:
