An American style cocktail bar named after the king of cocktail hour himself, crooner Dean Martin. Just like that redoubtable old smoothie, this place exudes rat-pack cool. Decorated in classic style, with illuminated bottle shelves lining the walls, this is a warm, welcoming spot. The music is, perhaps unsurprisingly, supplied by Sinatra and pals, giving the place a laid back ambience. The drinks, too, are as classic as they come an extensive menu features all the usual suspects. We’d probably go for the bourbon, Vermouth and Campari ‘Old Pal’ or the refreshing gin and ginger ale London Buck, though you may plump for the Dino’s Cooler which counts gin and vermouth dry in its ingredients or the vodka and rum based Devil’s Tail. There really is a huge list to choose from (and they offer seasonal specials too), so don’t be shy of asking for recommendations if you find the very long menu a little bit daunting. They also have the largest selection of bourbons in the country, so why not try a few when you’re there? The drinks are on the money and the staff are unswervingly efficient and collected. The chilled atmosphere steers well clear of the usual theme bar pitfalls; this is a place you could happily spend an evening or two soaking in the mood of a bygone era. It’s open early evening till early hours most days well, those rat pack drinkers were all night owls, after all and is well worth a visit. We’re sure Dino would agree with us when we say there really should be more bars like this.
