The second location of Tokyo’s renowned Dresden Bar, Dresden Lao brings the same polish and cocktail-making prowess that has made the original so famous to the capital of Laos.
Located in a stately white building with jet black shutters, Dresden Lao’s exterior matches the aesthetic of the interior of the bar to a tee. Once inside the bar, you are surrounded by dark polished woods, sparkling light fixtures, and a bar staff adorned in pressed white shirts, black vests and bowties standing before shelves overflowing with international spirit bottles.
Regarded by many the first ‘proper’ cocktail bar in Vientiane, Dresden Lao certainly makes drinks with a level of craftsmanship not often seen in these parts. While many bars in town focus on beer and a casual approach to things, Dresden Lao elevates the art of cocktail-making on to the pedestal it deserves, offering well over 100 combinations and even hosting their own ice program. Cocktails run the gamut from the familiar (martinis, gin & tonics, and manhattans), to the retro (gin rickeys and sidecars), to anything your heart desires (all you have to do is ask and the staff will gladly whip up a custom mix). Whisky lovers are especially well-looked-after, with single malts numbering over thirty, including a strong selection of bourbon, Japanese, Canadian, and Irish whiskies as well.
