Ozio Martini and Cigar Lounge
Washington DC-Connecticut Ave/ K Street
May 11, 2018
Ozio is an upscale Midtown restaurant bar for the beautiful people that’s the talk of the town. Recently relocated from K Street, this swank Manhattan-style cigar bar is set over four floors in what seems like a grand old mansion (in actuality, an historically preserved colonial row house). Décor is delectable: plush couches, crackling fireplaces and hand-painted murals of American icons on the walls. Power brokers get private humidors for their cigars and the Chocolate Martini and Key Lime Pie cocktails poured by dashing bar staff are legendary. Other cocktails tend in the main towards the classic, though you can try the signature Ozio (vodka or gin based with a feta stuffed olive). There’s also hookahs available in a range of flavours should that be more your thing. Mediterranean / American fusion cuisine is the order of the day in the kitchens: the menu runs from seafood to steak, with tapas style starters and a very meaty menu that may have the vegetarians in your party feeling a little left out. Music that ranges from trance to hi-energy gets the locals moving, courtesy of top name local DJs. The new location offers six separate bars and a generous rooftop space that has a retractable glass ceiling so it can be enjoyed whatever the vagaries of the weather. Critics, though, lament the move from K Street and claim that staff and regulars are too pretentious, pricey and Prada-obsessed. We say give it a go and make up your own mind the venue is so striking it’s worth a visit to check it out. Boys, be warned though: there’s a 20 buck cover charge for you on Saturday nights.
