For those of you who’ve subscribed to all things Moroccan, ‘Pur Pur’ is the place to go. Its lush decor deliberately conjures up 1001 Arabian Nights style luxury lots of red curtains, ornately decorated low level tables and comfortable couches, and the whole place is bathed in a welcoming red-orange glow that will warm you even in the middle of the harshest winter. The Asian – Mediterranean cooking and hordes of Zurich’s bright young things remind me of the scrum in the bar of MoMo’s in London, and it’s definitely a place to see and be seen, to recline stylishly on the padded furniture while you work your way through the delicious menu, a glass of something cool in hand. There’s a tasty range of cocktails on offer, with some of the drinks as pretty as the surroundings try the Prosecco and Hibiscus flower cocktail for a visual delight, though they’re also good at the classics, so a refreshing G&T (made with Hendricks’ gin) never goes amiss. There’s also a decent selection of wines, beers and spirits, while smokers can seek refuge in the Purple Smoking Lounge. There’s a dance floor if you want to get down at weekends, when entertainment comes courtesy of top local DJs and there are also live acts occasionally, so the atmosphere tends to get a bit clubbier, even if the music can be a tad eclectic for some tastes. It’s also handily located just behind the opera house, so you’re running out of reasons not to go already!
