- Night Out

Named after Andorra, one of the smallest countries in Europe, this Zurich bar is a smart city centre venue where they take beer very seriously indeed. There are some 30 different tipples on offer in a buzzing but casual atmosphere. The place has a warm, inviting vibe that attracts a friendly but mixed crowd, so you’re as likely to find yourself rubbing elbows with a group of students as with a suited banker sipping a pint of smooth, amber lager. They also serve cocktails and have an impressively long list of mixed drinks, with over 100 exciting concoctions, including a tempting collection of Sours. The cocktails tend towards the classics rather than anything too outrageous or inventive, reflecting the unshowy feel of the bar. There’s a decent selection of wines and spirits on offer (including a very nice range of single malts) and bonus points for offering a choice of non-alcoholic cocktails so the non-drinkers don’t feel left out. A gentle background glitter of jazz music completes the picture, reflected by the murals of musicians and the framed photos that decorate the walls. The venue also hosts regular jazz performances, often with no cover charge. Proving its ethos is as eclectic as its clientele, Andorra also screens live sports events. There’s some outdoor seating, too, where you can sit at metal tables out on the charming, cobbled street and people watch to your heart’s content. Bar Andorra is open evenings only through the week, noon till late weekends, and is well worth a visit.
