The former Steel City is better known these days for its thriving local music scene, which has given the world the Arctic Monkeys amongst others. Long used to living in the shadow of its northern industrial rivals Leeds and Manchester, the city has, over recent years, grabbed modernity by the scruff of the neck and come up shining.

Bars in Sheffield

Sheffield is a compact city with pretty much everything you need for nightlife on your doorstep. The capital of South Yorkshire is friendly and fun and offers a nightlife that is an eclectic mix of independent and chain bars and nightclubs offering everything from indie and pop to rave and rock. Thanks to the large student population, you’re sure to find somewhere lively and happy hours every night of the week. The city centre is jam-packed with flashy bars and a few quirky locals; traditional pubs and alternative bars dot Eccleshall Road and Division Street.

In the city centre, head to West Street to find a number of busy bars, including some of the larger chain bar and restaurants. However, if you fancy somewhere a little different, why not try The Wick at Both Ends? It’s unique cocktail menu is worth a visit alone; check out the Absinthe specials! Division Street’s gems include the renowned Forum, which has been around for years. Its outside terrace makes it the perfect summer watering hole. For a classy nightspot, try The Great Gatsby. Our top tip? Try their Mexican spin on an Old Fashioned, the Oaxaca.

The Steel City’s vibe is low maintenance yet dynamic, busy yet approachable. It’s a perfect mix in our opinion!
