The best salsa bars for a date night in La Havana
Cuba is filled with amazing places to explore, whether you’re after history, nature, food or culture. Culture-wise, one of the island’s proudest traditions is, of course, salsa dancing. Perfect for a romantic date night, if you ask us!
There are so many places to learn, perform and watch this magical dance, it can be hard to choose. Lucky for you, we narrowed it down to the 3 very best options to take your special someone.
Café Cantante Mi Habana
Café Cantante Mi Habana is part of the Teatro Nacional de Cuba, on Plaza de la Revolución. Its great location, music, food and drinks and quality programming make it a favorite among locals. Salsa nights are on Mondays and Tuesdays from 9 PM to 2 AM and Fridays from 4 PM to 8 PM, with lots of room to dance. Also worth noting, the venue is known for being particularly LGBTQ friendly.
La Casa de la Musica
La Casa de la Musica has two locations in Havana: the original one in Miramar, and the other in Central Havana. Some locals will swear by one or the other, but both are great options to dance and hear live salsa music. The Miramar location is a bit more upscale, with a more touristy reputation, while the one in Central Havana boasts a more local flavor.
Cabaret Turquino
This one is on the pricier (and touristier) side, but the setting makes it oh so worth it. Located on the 25th floor of the historic Habana Hilton hotel tower (Hotel Tryp Habana Libre), the view of the capital is nothing short of stunning. The atmosphere is neat, but be prepared for a late-night affair, as the fun and dancing only begins at midnight, when the roof opens and the people flock to the spacious dance floor.
