The Yankee Notions is a slightly lighter and more refreshing version of a classic Manhattan, with a homemade camomile cordial adding a calming essence to the bourbon-forward drink.
Developed by Employees Only‘s mixologist Dev Johnson, this cocktail is named after a horse that raced in the 1913 Kentucky Derby, Yankee Notions. A self-identified Yankee, Johnson felt the name also suited his “refreshing yet spirit-forward cocktail”, made with bourbon, just like the traditional Derby Day drinks.
Deceivingly simple in appearance, the Yankee Notions lets each of its four distinct ingredients shine, and as the large ice cube dilutes the drink, slow sippers will taste the essences change in the glass.
