1. Avocado Margarita
Both hailing from Mexico, it’s only fitting that avocado goes well in a Margarita.
Its rich, creamy texture balances out tequila’s usual burn, so you can sip these to your heart’s content. Made from tequila, Cointreau, lime juice and avocado, and served in a salt-crusted tumbler for that extra bit of flavour.
2. Avocado Mojito
A good mojito is light, sweet, and infinitely drinkable. Adding avocado to the mix creates something just as tasty, but closer to a milkshake than a typical cocktail. It’s rich, thick, and surprisingly filling, so you’ll want to save these for after dinner! Made from white rum, sugar, lime juice, mint leaves, soda water and avocado.
3. Avocado Gimlet
This avocado and apple cocktail might just be the best Gimlet variant out there. It’s silky smooth and sweet, without compromising on the gimlet’s characteristic potency. Made from gin, lime juice, apple liqueur, sugar and avocado.
4. Avocado Mezcalita
Mezcal and tequila have a lot in common. They both originate from Mexico, they’re both made from agave plants, and they can both make impressive avocado cocktails. Made from mezcal, lime juice, honey, coriander and avocado, this mezcalita looks like a superfood smoothie but kicks like a mule.
5. Avocado Daiquiri
The Daiquiri has come a long way from its 20th-century Cuban beginnings. It’s popular world-over, and now also made with avocado. Mixed with rum, lime juice, Half & Half, simple syrup and avocado, this cocktail has a creamy aftertaste and a strong, fruity rum kick.
6. Avocado Vodka Smash
We all know smashed avocado is a hit. We also know that most things can be improved by adding vodka, and this cocktail’s no exception. Vodka, agave nectar, agave sour and avocado blend to create this well-balanced, refreshing cocktail. It’s sweet, it’s boozy, and it’s an excellent brunch cocktail.
7. Avocado Martini
James Bond’s signature order, the vodka martini, is almost unrecognisable in this avocado variant. From clear to opaque green, from eye-wateringly neat to smooth and sweet, it’s an entirely transformed drink. Made with vodka, dry vermouth, Cajeta and condensed milk, this cocktail’s great for satisfying your sweet tooth whilst getting your buzz on.
It really is the year of the avocado. Let’s raise a glass (or maybe two) to this unexpected cocktail star!
